Borovets

The Borovets resort complex is the oldest and most developed mountain resort in Bulgaria, dating back to the 19th century when was only known to an exclusive few. Once a hunting ground for Bulgarian Kings, Borovets is now internationally renowned.

Set amidst the majestic forest-clad Rila Mountains, at the foot of Moussala Peak, the tallest peak on the Balkan Peninsula standing at 2925m. Borovets boasts a variety of skiing to suit all levels and an impressive assortment of bars and restaurants.

The distance between Sofia and Borovets is 65 km, a one-hour drive along a picturesque canyon above the river Iskar.

Villa Park Restaurant

Another place where you can feel the Bulgarian spirit and where you can hide from the cold in the winter evenings! A must to try is the special (Wild Boar Stew) not a stew as you know it, but large chunks of meat with rice and gravy….it’s definitely not to be missed! N.B. Please be aware, during peak season you will have to book in advance.

Borovets, Skiing

Borovets is a resort of alpine type and provides excellent opportunities for a whole range of winter sports. The resort has twice hosted World Cup Alpine skiing rounds. It is also famous for its world-class biathlon track. The slopes of Borovets have a permanent snow cover from November to May, more than 1.5 m thick.

Ski runs of various difficulty provide opportunities for the full range of skill levels. The slopes and runs are maintained in perfect condition and are designed with international markings and multilingual signs. The resort provides a ski school with highly trained English speaking instructors, as well as state of the art ski and snowboard equipment rentals.
